Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS are the new Regional Champions of the National Independence Debate Competition. The brave ladies from Tanoso conquered all schools in the Region to grab the only ticket available to represent the Region at the Northern sector competition scheduled for Bolgatanga which will feature about 5 Regions from which the winner will compete for the national ultimate.

YAGSS emerged the best at the inter school level when they conquered Prempeh College, Methodist Technical and Agric Nzema.
At the Zonal levels, the new Regional independence debate champions manged to overpower the likes of KNUST SHS, OKESS, KUMACA, KUHIS, Pentecost SHS among others.

The independence anniversary debate starts at inter- school level (Municipal Level), which is the first stage, all the SHS’s within the Kwadaso Municipality battled for qualification. YAGSS qualified from there. The schools were: Prempeh College, Agric Nzema Community Day School, Methodist Technical Institute, and Yagshs. After this stage, was the zonal competition, the zones were, Kumasi Metro represented by Armed Forces, Asokwa Municipal which was represented by Kumasi High School, Asokore Mampong : Kumasi Academy SHS, Suame Municipal : Pentecost SHS, Oforikrom Municipal by KNUST SHS, and Tafo Pankrono Municipal which was represented by Okess. Yagshs from the Kwadaso Municipal.
